Plan your family’s next chapter.
Begin with the right questions.
Planning to accompany or join a family member overseas? Organise your enquiry around the destination, your relationship and the principal applicant’s or sponsor’s immigration category.
Share an outline with NGC to confirm the assistance available and the requirements that need individual review.
This page prepares an assistance enquiry. It does not confirm eligibility, permission to work or study, or the availability of a family route.
Different relationships need different enquiries.
These categories help explain your situation. They are not a list of relationships automatically eligible for a dependent visa.
Spouse or partner
Identify the relationship, the destination and the principal applicant’s category before checking which route may apply.
Children
Discuss the child’s circumstances and the questions that need checking about eligibility, responsibility and accompanying adults.
Other family relationships
Describe the relationship and purpose clearly. Do not assume that a parent or other relative falls under a dependent route.
Family of a student
Provide the exact study and immigration category if known. Eligibility must be checked for the specific circumstances.
Family of a worker
Identify the principal applicant’s actual work category and whether the family intends to apply together or later.
Joining family already overseas
Explain whether you are seeking a short visit or a longer stay. Different purposes may need different routes.
What should be checked?
Destination and nationality
Identify each applicant’s nationality, current residence and expected country of application.
Principal applicant’s category
Record the exact category where known, its current stage and the circumstances of the proposed family application.
Relationship and family circumstances
Clarify the relationship and identify questions about the supporting records requested for the applicable route.
Funding and accommodation
Prepare questions about the evidence, arrangements and responsibilities relevant to your family’s proposed stay.
Timing and application location
Discuss whether applications are planned together or separately, and what needs checking before making travel commitments.
Conditions and next steps
Ask about the actual conditions attached to any permission. Do not assume work, study or renewal rights from the word “dependent”.
Confirm the scope of support: NGC will clarify what assistance is available, any fees and whether an appropriately authorised professional is needed. An enquiry does not authorise representation.
Organise your records before detailed review.
This is a planning guide, not a destination-specific checklist. Obtain the current instructions for the applicable official route.
Identity and travel records
Check the identity and travel documents requested for each applicant, including their format and validity conditions.
Principal applicant or sponsor information
Identify the immigration category, application or permission stage and any supporting information the relevant authority requests.
Relationship records
Ask which relationship records and supporting evidence are required. Confirm the accepted format rather than assuming a single certificate is always sufficient.
Children and responsibility arrangements
Where children are involved, check the applicable instructions about responsibility, consent and supporting records. Discuss sensitive family circumstances privately through an appropriate channel.
Funding and accommodation evidence
Confirm what evidence is requested, who must provide it and which document periods or conditions apply.
Translations and certification
Check language, translation, certification and authentication requirements before arranging additional processing.
Previous applications or decisions
Prepare accurate history where requested. Let NGC know if a previous decision needs review without entering confidential records here.
Additional route-specific steps
Check whether any further forms, appointments, health-related steps or other requirements apply to the particular applicants.
No document uploads are requested here. Do not enter passport numbers, application reference numbers, bank details, children’s full details, confidential family records, passwords or OTPs.
From family plans to an informed enquiry.
Describe the family plan
Provide the destination, relationship and principal applicant’s category.
Confirm what needs review
Identify the route-specific questions and available assistance.
Organise the requested records
Follow the confirmed checklist and arrange appropriate document sharing.
Review before submission
Check accuracy and consistency before completing the official process.
Keep track of communications
Retain records and follow official instructions for any further requests.
Understand the outcome
Review the decision and conditions before finalising travel or other commitments.

Questions before you proceed.
Does every student or worker have a dependent route?
Do not assume this. The exact destination, immigration category and circumstances must be checked against current official requirements.
Can parents or other relatives apply as dependants?
The appropriate route must be checked individually. Describe the relationship and intended stay rather than assuming it fits a dependent category.
Can family members apply together?
Tell us whether you intend to apply together or later. The applicable process and each person’s requirements must be confirmed.
Does a dependent visa automatically permit employment or study?
No permission should be assumed from the category name. Check the actual conditions applicable to the specific route and outcome.
What if children are included?
Use an adult contact for this initial enquiry and give only the number of children. Any required personal and family records can be reviewed later through an appropriate channel.
Can I enquire after a previous refusal or other decision?
Yes. Indicate that a previous decision needs review. NGC will confirm whether it can assist or whether appropriately authorised professional support is needed.
Are approval or processing times guaranteed?
No. This page does not guarantee an outcome, appointment or processing time. The relevant authority controls its process and decisions.
Does this form submit a dependent visa application?
No. It prepares an enquiry for NGC only. Official application, representation and payment arrangements require separate confirmation.
